MUSIC IS ORGANIZED SOUND
Workshop with Guilherme Kastrup
Based on the idea that music is the organization of sound as a form of language, percussionist and music producer Guilherme Kastrup leads a workshop in which participants learn to communicate musically through basic principles of musical structure, such as time and frequency (low, mid, and high). Using a variety of materials — such as bottles, buckets, cans, and any object that produces an interesting sound — he demonstrates how to organize these sounds into phrases and rhythms. Throughout the session, participants explore different sonic possibilities and, together, build a small percussion ensemble that includes people of all experience levels: from professional and amateur musicians to those who have never played an instrument before. The workshop emphasizes listening, improvisation, and collective creation, offering an inclusive, playful, and intuitive approach to making music.
